Apple’s flagship of the year, the ultra-hyped iPhone X will make its way to the general public this week. While there is a bevy of new major features to look forward to, some of the smaller ones are also worth checking out. Seemingly, the iPhone X has a small tweak in place regarding the lock screen notifications when it launches to the general public on Friday, November 3. The change will allow the iPhone X to automatically hide notification previews on the lock screen by default. So let’s dive in to see some more details on the new Lock screen previews on the upcoming iPhone.
iPhone X Will Feature Hidden Notification Previews On Lock Screen Out Of the Box
The ability to hide Lock screen notification previews by default is something mentioned in Wired’s early hands-on with the device. Do take note that iOS had this ability for a quite a while now – hiding lock screen notification previews. This allowed you to show generic notification titles like “new message on WhatsApp”. The message will be displayed on the lock screen depending on the app it is hosting.
However, the variation here is that the feature was initially optional, suggesting that you had the ability to reverse it anytime you want. If you wanted more security, you could easily turn the feature on for more security. Since we already knew that the feature will be part of the iPhone X out of the box, this is the first time that we’re hearing that the option will be enabled out-of-the-box.
To reveal the hidden notification previews, an individual would have to unlock his or her iPhone using Face ID. This will showcase the message in its original or usual form. This, according to Wired, is another way that you can confirm that the iPhone X has been unlocked with Face ID. While this may be a small change, it does provide users with more security. This will prevent others from reading your message on the lock screen. henceforth, in the end, you will have more privacy.
The iPhone X is set to be launched to the public on Friday, November 3 and at this point, a trio of new hands-on videos of the device have already been uploaded to YouTube which details the Face ID setup, a basic walkthrough of iOS running on the device and its unboxing. Di check that out as well.
