I’ve been banging my head up against this issue all day, I’m at a loss at this point. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I got a new LG C7 and soundbar during Black Friday and just got around to setting it up. Everything works great with the TV and soundbar itself (e.g. I can watch the TV’s built-in Netflix with sound coming from the soundbar). When I tried to hookup my Xbox One X, I can’t get sound from the Xbox on the sound bar or the TV speakers. While I’ve mainly tried the configuration suggested in the soundbar’s manual (see image below), I have also (1) tried completely removing the soundbar to use the TV’s speakers alone, (2) connecting the Xbox directly to the soundbar, and using optimal cables instead of HDMI to connect the (3) Xbox and TV and (4) Xbox and Soundbar.
My hunch is that the Xbox is the issue here and that I’m not finding the correct settings (and it feels like I’ve tried them all). The One X has been having issues with sound related Dolby Atmos, but I’ve not been able to get any sound from the Xbox regardless if Atmos is on or off. I’ve tried every combination of my TV’s audio output settings and the Xbox audio settings I can think of, but still with no luck.
There is one more wrinkle here. After giving up for an hour or so, I returned to try some more fixes and the Xbox audio worked when I booted everything up. The sound was coming out of my soundbar and seemed to work fine (with the exception of being unable to enable the C7’s “game” mode because of the SJ4Y-S’ bluetooth connection). However, I needed to move the Xbox to a new, more permanent location and unplugged the rear IO. When I got it setup in its new spot, the audio issues returned and I haven’t been able to make any headway for the past 8 hours.
At this point, I’m feeling a little defeated and need to go to sleep. Any help with this issue would be amazing. I’m sure I’ve left something out here and didn’t really systematically catalog my steps through the process, so if you need clarification or for me to test something specific, let me know. Thanks in advance.
