Devins Nunes Says Trump Never Met Papadopoulos, Then a Photo Appears

Rep. Devin Nunes (R. CA), author of the recently declassified document known as the “Nunes memo” and falsley claims that the FBI misused US surveillance law to go after popular vote loser Donald Trump under the pretext of investigating Russia. On Monday, Nunes went on Fox & Friends, Trump’s  favorite TV show, to discuss Trump’s alleged persecution and told one of the biggest lies you’ll ever hear.

George Papadopoulos, a former Trump foreign policy adviser who pled guilty to lying to the FBI last year and became a major witness in Robert Mueller’s Russia probe is at the center of this particular lie. According to Nunes, Papadopoulos was a small player in the Trump world. Papadopoulos was so unimportant, in fact, that Trump never met with him, according to Nunes.

“As far as we can tell, Papadopoulos never even knew who Trump was — never even met with the president,” Nunes said.

Well, OK, except there’s this picture:

I’m sure they’ll explain this away too, like this meeting was no big deal.

Oh, except, yeah, this meeting was a huge deal.

According to the Washington Post, who obtained emails from the Trump campaign, this meeting is where Papadopoulos offered to broker “a meeting between us and the Russian leadership to discuss US-Russia ties under President Trump.”  So not only did Trump meet with Papadopoulos, but they actually discussed talks between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin.

Nunes lie has a purpose: he was part of the Trump transition team that is currently under investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller for their ties to Russia.  So he’s trying to cover his behind.

And it might have worked if these people weren’t so stupid that they lie about something so easily disprovable.
