‘Better get your guns’: Billboard warns against attempting to impeach President Trump

A Maryland billboard is turning heads and going viral.

According to WJLA, the sign standing along Bowie Shop Road in Calvert County sends a stark message: “Hey liberals, better get your guns if you try to impeach President Trump. From all of your deplorables in Calvert County.”

Captain Dave Payne of the Calvert Sheriff’s Office told the Baltimore Sun that the sign has likely been there for a couple weeks. The man who owns the billboard has reportedly rotated through a variety of “controversial” messages for the past few years.

“There’s two groups that are offended. We’ve received messages that say it’s offensive that it’s up,” Payne said. Others say “it’s offensive that he’s being pressured to take it down. We can’t win. We’re in the middle.”

The sign was shared more than 14,000 times after being posted by the group “Lock him up,” an anti-Trump Facebook page.

One local woman, who chose to remain anonymous, told WJLA her son is frightened by it.

“I hate that billboard,” she said. “I think it’s very threatening. I don’t like it at all.”

However, many locals feel supportive of the sign.

“I love the billboard,” Michelle Rinker said. “We’re conservative and there’s a lot of corruption that’s happened in this country and I don’t think it’s threatening.”

Rinker feels the billboard’s message is clear: “If you attempt to take down a good president, there’s gonna be a problem.”

Some local conservatives think there is a better way to defend their ideals.

“I’m a Republican but I think it’s a little offensive,” Kelly Mazzella said. “I think you can persuade people on the topics and not insult them.”

Calvert County Sheriff Mike Evans has reportedly been in touch with the billboard’s owner, who has agreed to change or alter the sign when he returns home from a trip.
