Donald Trump has a mind-swamping definition of “fake news.” He even refused to call upon CNN while in the United Kingdom, saying that it was not a real network. As a man who has tried so hard to appear strong, maybe he hopes hanging out with strong men like Russia’s Vladimir Putin will rub off. Are strong men so sensitive they cannot bear the slightest criticism — or as he says, “FAKE NEWS!”?
“The Donald” called factual reporting “FAKE NEWS,” and he called his own Department of Justice, men he appointed, “fake news.” Rather than deal with Russia’s real attack upon the 2016 U.S. presidential and the upcoming 2018 midterm elections, he has been trying to derail Robert Mueller’s investigation and trying to divert Americans’ attention:
‘There hasn’t been a missile or rocket fired in 9 months in North Korea, there have been no nuclear tests and we got back our hostages. Who knows how it will all turn out in the end, but why isn’t the Fake News talking about these wonderful facts? Because it is FAKE NEWS!’
POTUS must have been really angry, because he tweeted capital letters. In his tweet, he came across as frustrated that the media was more interested in his one-in-one meeting with Putin than with the older North Korea News. Imagine that.
Then, the supposedly more powerful man in the world went into his poor-me mode, tweeting:
‘Heading to Helsinki, Finland – looking forward to meeting with President Putin tomorrow. Unfortunately, no matter how well I do at the Summit, if I was given the great city of Moscow as retribution for all of the sins and evils committed by Russia…’
The man usually sitting in the Oval Office added another helping of martyrdom to his tweet:
‘…over the years, I would return to criticism that it wasn’t good enough – that I should have gotten Saint Petersburg in addition! Much of our news media is indeed the enemy of the people and all the Dems…’
Building to his crescendo, Trump went into his favorite up–is-down and East-is-West schtick. As the grand hater-and-dissenter-in-chief, Trump pointed his blame wand at the Democrats:
‘…know how to do is resist and obstruct! This is why there is such hatred and dissension in our country – but at some point, it will heal!’
People are onto Trump’s “Fake News,” bait-and-switch diversions, poor-mes, blame-anyone-else tactics, and fake reality attempts. They know that the real news has become Russia’s direct attack on the U.S.’s very democracy. There was nothing fake about that.
