Apple Watch Series 4: Australian Price, Specs And Release Date

The Apple Watch Series 4 has just been announced, along with a slew of upgrades and new features. Here’s hwo much it’s going to cost you and when you can get it in Australia.

The Series 4 comes in three different colours — gold, silver and space grey — as well as two larger sizes — 40mm and 44mm.

The key features include:

  • Edge-to-edge display which is 30 per cent larger than the previous gen, but in a smaller body
  • New S4 chip with 2x faster performance
  • WatchOS 5
  • 64-bit processor
  • Fall detection with accelerometer and gyroscope
  • Digital crown with haptic feedback
  • New watch faces with up to 8 customisable complications
  • Speaker is 50 per cent louder than the previous generation
  • Microphone has been moved to oppsite side of the device to the speaker to avoid interference with calls and Siri commands
  • new ceramic and crystal back — radio waves can now pass through the front and back for improced reception
  • Up to 18 hours of battery life — the same as the Series 3
  • Heart rate monitor that can detect low heart rate, irregularities
  • Electrocardiogram scanner that is FDA approved
  • GPS
  • Water resistance

The GPS, non-cellular 40mm versions start at $599, and the 44mm versions at $649.

For GPS + celluar the 40mm versions start at $749 and the 44mm versions at $799.

Pre-orders will be available from September 14 and will ship on September 21.
